On the Anacortes/San Juan Islands routes, reservation space is released according to the following schedule:
- 1st Tier - 30% of standard vehicle reservation space for all sailings the entire season is released at 7:00 a.m.(PT), 2 months prior to the season start date. Note: Tall reservation space for large, non-standard vehicles is released all at once in the 1st Tier.
Current/Upcoming Seasons:
Spring 2019: 3/31/19 - 6/22/19 (1st Tier space released at 7:00 a.m. February 12*, 2019)
*Please Note: The Spring 2019 release date was previously set on January 31, but has been delayed two weeks due to unscheduled vessel maintenace, and pending vessel assignements/adjustments.
Summer 2019: 6/23/19 - 9/28/19 (1st Tier space released at 7:00 a.m. April 23, 2019)
Fall 2019: 9/29/19 - 1/4/20 (1st tier space released at 7:00 a.m. July 30, 2019)
Winter 2020: 1/5/20 - 3/28/20 (1st Tier space released at 7:00 a.m. November 5, 2019)

2nd Tier - An additional 30% of vessel space for standard vehicles is released at 7:00 a.m.(PT) 2 weeks before each specific sailing date.

3rd Tier - The final 30% of space for standard vehicles is released at 7:00 a.m.(PT) 2 days before each specific sailing date.

10% of vessel space is always held open for emergency and stand-by vehicles.
No reservation? In addition to the 10% of stand-by space on each sailing, more standby space is always available on sailings when drivers don't use their reservations or if they travel at a different time. While you may not always get on the sailing of your choice, traveling standby is an option when you need to travel at the last minute or can't make a reservation.
On the Port Townsend/Coupeville route, all reservation space (80% of the vessel) is released 2 months prior to the season start date. 20% of vessel space is always held open for emergency and stand-by vehicles.
